Top pianist Joey Calderazzo to perform at Ruissalo Shipyard this summer – Turku Sea Jazz evening programme revealed

9.4.2026

Held for the sixth time, Turku Sea Jazz is expanding this summer to Ruissalo Shipyard at the turn of July and August. The evening concert programme in Ruissalo features American pianist Joey Calderazzo, acclaimed British saxophonist Camilla George, and two of the hottest names on the Finnish jazz scene: Selma Savolainen and Maja Mannila. Taking place on 29 July–1 August 2026, Turku Sea Jazz begins at Cathedral Park Terrace and on the island of Seili. As always, concerts will also be held daily in the maritime quarter of Forum Marinum and aboard museum ships. The full festival programme will be announced at the end of April.

This summer, Turku Sea Jazz weekend evening concerts will take place in Lindblom Hall at Ruissalo Shipyard. The concerts feature four timely and compelling artists representing different generations and styles of jazz.

Friday 31 July at Ruissalo Shipyard: Maja Mannila and Joey Calderazzo

Friday evening opens with the virtuosic Maja Mannila Trio. Singer, pianist and composer Maja Mannila is one of the most exciting names of the younger generation, known for her strong expression and natural way of blending R&B, soul, jazz and gospel. At Turku Sea Jazz, she will be joined by Johannes Granroth on bass and Mooses Kuloniemi on drums.

The evening’s headliner is American pianist Joey Calderazzo, widely regarded as one of the leading jazz pianists of his generation. Over his long career, Calderazzo has become known through collaborations with artists such as Michael Brecker and Branford Marsalis. He comes to Turku with his trio, featuring bassist Orlando Le Fleming and drummer Donald Edwards. The trio’s expression is rooted in strong interaction, swinging momentum and free improvisation.

Saturday 1 August at Turku Sea Jazz: Selma Savolainen and Camilla George

Saturday evening begins with singer-songwriter Selma Savolainen and her brand new programme. Known for her fearless expression, Savolainen has become one of the leading names in Finnish jazz, combining modern jazz with alternative singer-songwriter influences. Her second album in the shade, to be released in May 2026, takes the band’s sound in an even bolder direction.

Turku Sea Jazz concludes on Saturday evening with British saxophonist Camilla George, one of the leading figures of London’s new jazz generation. Her music combines African influences, hip hop and jazz into a powerful, socially conscious expression. George is known for her energetic live performances and distinctive sound, drawing inspiration from both her Nigerian roots and the Western jazz tradition.
