Jazz on Seili Island on the Last Day of July!

9.5.2025

Turku Sea Jazz’s atmospheric Thursday on July 31st will once again take place in the stunning setting of Seili Island. Award-winning saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen will perform in the island’s church, while the trio Antila/Tuuri/Mäkynen brings vibrant jazz to the garden of the main building. Book your seat now at Tiketti.fi!

A definite summer highlight is the festival’s fourth jazz concert trip to the historic island of Seili. The church concert features saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen, known as a bold innovator in the Finnish jazz scene. His solo album Lehto / Korpi won the Emma Award for Jazz Album of the Year. Lyytinen’s music combines saxophones, electronics, and field recordings into a unique whole, inspired by Finnish nature and infused with mysticism and arctic ambient tones.

In the lush garden of Seili’s main building, the outstanding trio of vibraphonist Mikko Antila, bassist Joonas Tuuri, and drummer Teppo Mäkynen will deliver swinging jazz with a lively touch. Their expressive interplay and improvisation around jazz standards promise an engaging and dynamic atmosphere.

The passenger ferry M/S Lövskär will transport concertgoers from the Aura River in Turku to Seili and back. You can also arrive by your own means – a limited number of individual concert tickets are available.

Pauli Lyytinen’s concert lasts approximately 40 minutes, and the Antila/Tuuri/Mäkynen trio performs for about 60 minutes. There’s time for lunch in the main building between the concerts. In case of rain, the second concert will also take place in the church.
