Turku Sea Jazz kicks off with a free opening event at Kirkkopuiston Terassi, offering a taste of jazz highlights and a Baltic Sea-themed discussion hosted by the John Nurminen Foundation.

Siina Suutarinen is a rising star on the Finnish jazz scene, gaining attention with her stunning vocal sound and fresh compositions. Suutarinen’s music achieves its unique character through the band’s energetic approach and dynamic interplay. Aiming for an international career, the singer released her debut album Who You Are (Flame Jazz Records) in April 2025. The songs from the album will now be performed live in Turku for the first time with a full band.

During the intermission at 7 PM, the John Nurminen Foundation will host a Baltic Sea discussion, where invited guests will explore the relationship between music and the sea, and how the sea serves as an inspiration for jazz. The names of the panelists will be confirmed during May.
