Accordion artist Harri Kuusijärvi is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Finnish music – a musician who has consistently expanded the perception of what the accordion can be. In his solo concert at Seili Church, Kuusijärvi presents music from his latest album Aallot, which was nominated for a Finnish Emma Award for Best Jazz Album last year. The programme will also feature brand-new material.

At the core of Kuusijärvi’s expression is his self-developed electronically augmented accordion: an acoustic instrument combined with a real-time evolving electronic soundscape. The result is layered and breathing – at times delicately subtle, at times powerfully expansive.

Kuusijärvi’s music blends Nordic serenity with the bubbling energy of jazz. The concert in Seili Church highlights the acoustics of the space – an intense and immersive experience where the listener is brought close to the birth of sound and its nuances.
