Camilla George (UK)

British saxophonist, composer and bandleader Camilla George is one of the leading names of London’s new jazz generation. Her music blends African influences, hip hop and modern jazz into a distinctive whole where strong groove, hypnotic energy and a socially conscious perspective go hand in hand. George draws particular inspiration from her Nigerian roots and from the meeting point between African and Western musical traditions.

Internationally acclaimed, George is known for her powerful sound and intense live performances. Her latest album Ibio Ibio is a tribute to the culture of coastal south-eastern Nigeria. At Turku Sea Jazz, George brings a captivating concert experience to Ruissalo Boatyard, where jazz meets Afrofuturism and contemporary rhythm music.
